Today’s Reading:
1 Samuel 17
Hebrews 10

As he was talking with them, behold, the champion, the Philistine from Gath named Goliath, was coming up from the army of the Philistines, and he spoke these same words; and David heard them. When all the men of Israel saw the man, they fled from him and were greatly afraid. The men of Israel said, “Have you seen this man who is coming up? Surely he is coming up to defy Israel. And it will be that the king will enrich the man who kills him with great riches and will give him his daughter and make his father’s house free in Israel.”
‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭17‬:‭23‬-‭25‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

I heard the Spirit of the Living God say,
Choices for victory. Choices for overcoming. Choices for marching forward to the next battle and into new territory. Choices for victory are coming. Choices for victory will present themselves. Will you have the courage and the decisiveness to slay the giant before you? I will bring the victory directly to you, but you will have the choice to grasp, to grab hold of the victory by destroying the works of the enemy and silencing his voice.

Then David spoke to the men who were standing by him, saying, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should taunt the armies of the living God?”
‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭17‬:‭26‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

The victory will be presented to you as a great possibility, perhaps even as a daunting possibility — but you will have to decide whether you will go toe-to-toe, whether you will respond and take the decisive action required to apprehend the victory. Once you do, as you do, you will march forward in strength, in great joy and with confidence and authority you’ve before never possessed. You will walk forward as a king victorious in battle, and I will bring you into a broader place, a greater place — into new and unknown territory to claim, to occupy and to war for and defend.

When the words which David spoke were heard, they told them to Saul, and he sent for him. David said to Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail on account of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.” Then it happened when the Philistine rose and came and drew near to meet David, that David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand into his bag and took from it a stone and slung it, and struck the Philistine on his forehead. And the stone sank into his forehead, so that he fell on his face to the ground. Thus David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and he struck the Philistine and killed him; but there was no sword in David’s hand. Then David ran and stood over the Philistine and took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.
‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭17‬:‭31‬-‭32‬, ‭48‬-‭51‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

The choice is yours. Will you boldly accept the gift of this victory that I Am handing to you? Will you do the work required to apprehend it fully? Or will you shrink back in fear and let another take your place? This is your victory for the taking. Step forward and do what is needed to apprehend it. You know I have already won. The victory is provided, and it is there for the taking. March forward in bold confidence, and apprehend not only the victory, but all that I have for you that’s wrapped up in defeating this giant. Treasures, gifts and glories untold are wrapped up in the seizing of this great victory. It’s yours for the taking.

How to Respond

  • Live in close communion with the Lord, so you can recognize the victory being presented.
  • Pray, Lord thank You that You have already gone before me, and You have already won every battle. Help me to have the discernment, wisdom and courage to step forward and seize the victory You present. Help me to not step back or hesitate. Help me to run forward and slay this terrorizing giant and take all of the winnings that come along with it.
  • Declare, But we are certainly not those who are held back by fear and perish; we are among those who have faith and experience true life!
    ‭‭— Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭39‬ ‭TPT‬‬
  • Decree, I will step forward and apprehend the victory the Lord presents. I will not shrink back and let another take my place. I will move in boldness, courage and faith, and I will receive the full victory and all that comes with it. Then the Lord will move me into a broader space which I will claim, occupy, war for and defend. I will walk as a king victorious in battle, because the Lord is with me, and His victory is already won.
