Today’s Reading:
Psalm 37
John 15
Keep trusting in the Lord and do what is right in his eyes. Fix your heart on the promises of God, and you will dwell in the land, feasting on his faithfulness. Find your delight and true pleasure in Yahweh, and he will give you what you desire the most.
Psalms 37:3-4 TPT
I heard the Spirit of the Living God say,
Delight your heart in Me, and I will give you the desires of your heart. Don’t just delight in Me — true love means that you delight in what delights Me and you hate what I hate. Align your heart and mind with Me. Conform your desires to My desires. Conform your love and delight to Mine, and your joy will be full.
Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way, you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly!“=
Psalms 37:5 TPT
Choosing your own way, going your own way, carving out your own way without Me, apart from Me or at arm’s length from Me is empty. And the fruit is difficult to manufacture there, the fruitfulness that comes from your strength must continually be supplied by your strength. Look at the picture of Jesus. He did not strive. He partnered with Me, and more wine was multiplied. He partnered with Me, and many thousands were fed. When your delight is in Me, when your eyes are on Me, when your actions align with My words and what You see Me doing, the fruit comes forth effortlessly. So be in love. Remain in love. A posture and a heart of love will bear more fruit than a team of people who are out of sync with Me.
“I love each of you with the same love that the Father loves me. You must continually let my love nourish your hearts. If you keep my commands, you will live in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands, for I continually live nourished and empowered by his love. My purpose for telling you these things is so that the joy that I experience will fill your hearts with overflowing gladness!”
John 15:9-11 TPT
I’m not looking for you to grind it out every day, to grind out more and more. I’m looking for disciplined hard work — yes, but remember, the load should be easy. My load is easy, and My burden is light. How do you know when you’re slipping out of sync with Me? The load begins to feel heavy. The burden begins to weigh you down and slow you down and cause strain in your life and countenance. The formula is this. It’s this simple. Delight in Me. Remain in Me. Do the work I’ve called you to do, and don’t pick up anything extraneous. That’s the road to burnout. People pleasing is the road to burnout. Picking things up with the sense of obligation is the road to burnout. Delighting yourself in Me and staying focused on Me, doing the work I’ve put in your hands and nothing else — no more, no less — is the path to full joy and great fruitfulness.
When Yahweh delights in how you live your life, he establishes your every step. If they stumble badly they will still survive, for the Lord lifts them up with his hands.
Psalms 37:23-24 TPT
It all starts with delight in Me, with living in awe of Me, with stirring up love and affection for Me. All of your work can flow from that. That’s when My joy comes to be your strength. Dwell in Me. Delight in Me. Remain in Me, and don’t take on more than I’ve given you. That’s the path to victory. That’s how you can live life without strain. Delight in Me. Remain in Me. Love Me, and draw joy that strengthens your soul and heart and bones from Me. I will give you rest, and I will be your rest. Delight in Me.
How to Respond
- Stir up affection for the Lord and delight yourself in Him.
- Pray, Holy Spirit help me to model my life and work from Jesus. I don’t want to take on more than You’ve given me grace to carry. I don’t want to be stressed out and trying to work in my own strength. I want to live in the delight and awe and love of You. From Your presence I want to draw joy that strengthens me and keeps me strong. I want the fruit of my labors to come forth effortlessly from You, as I keep my eyes and heart focused on You.
- Declare, But the Lord will be the Savior of all who love him. Even in their time of trouble, God will live in them as strength. Because of their faith in him, their daily portion will be a Father’s help and deliverance from evil. This is true for all who turn to hide themselves in him!
— Psalms 37:39-40 TPT - Decree, I have eyes only for the Lord. I will not fall into people pleasing or picking up new burdens from a sense of obligation. I will live in the grace of the Lord for the work He has given me. I will delight myself in the Lord. I will keep my eyes on Him and stir up love and affection for Him. I will draw joy from His glorious presence, and it will give me the strength I need to accomplish the work He’s put in my hands. He will cause my work to be fruitful and to prosper.
