Today’s Reading:
2 Samuel 6
1 Thessalonians 5
John 15
Psalm 27
“Meanwhile, David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the Lord with all kinds of instruments made of fir wood, and with lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets and cymbals. And David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, and David was wearing a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouting and the sound of the trumpet.”
2 Samuel 6:5, 14-15 NASB1995
I heard the Spirit of the Living God say,
Get undignified. It’s time to have fun. It’s time to not be so serious while seriously pursuing the work of God, your Lord, the Creator. Take a load off and dance. Sing while you work. Choose grace as your reflex. And watch how much easier things flow. Let the song in your heart guide your day. Let it be the theme for your day. Don’t be afraid to clap, to laugh, to make fun in the midst of hard things. This is your birthright.
The abundant life is fun, filled with laughter even in the midst of responsibility. Even in the midst of diligent faithfulness to the call, have fun. It’s not meant to all be hard. So don’t make it hard.
Let joy be your continual feast. Make your life a prayer. And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 TPT
Enjoy life. Vibrate with excitement and delight, and bring the evidence of My Pleasure on your life to those around you. This is a time to be different. You don’t have to be the way you’ve always been. You can be different. You can be free. You can be silly. You can crack jokes. I do all the time. Lighten up. It’s time to make this fun. It’s time to make it all fun, even the ugly stuff. If it’s gonna be ugly, it might as well be fun.
“I love each of you with the same love that the Father loves me. You must continually let my love nourish your hearts. If you keep my commands, you will live in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands, for I continually live nourished and empowered by his love. My purpose for telling you these things is so that the joy that I experience will fill your hearts with overflowing gladness!”
John 15:9-11 TPT
So get undignified. Lighten up. Live a little. And let your life be marked by laughter and grace. You get undignified in your love and devotion to Me and the way you live your life. Get undignfied in your praise and worship and honor of Me, and I will be responsible for bringing you glory. And just as the scriptures say, you will in turn give the glory to Me. This is what it means to live entwined as one in the Lord. You get honor, dignity, strength and glory too. It comes from your King — the King of Shining Glory.
How to Respond
- Shake off the weights and seriousness that have been holding you down. And get undignified in your worship of the Lord.
- Pray, Lord thank you that You are not a taskmaster kind of God. You are a good Father who loves to bring me joy, who loves to see me succeed and who champions me and cheers me on as I do the good work You’ve called me to do. Help me to live in the reality of that truth. Help me not to live as if the fate of the world rests on my shoulders. Help me to lighten up and enjoy this beautiful life You died to give me. It’s my rightful act of worship.
- Declare, Here’s the one thing I crave from Yahweh, the one thing I seek above all else: I want to live with him every moment in his house, beholding the marvelous beauty of Yahweh, filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace. I want to contemplate in his temple.
— Psalms 27:4 TPT - Decree, I will get undignified in my life and especially in my worship of the Lord. I choose to laugh and live in grace, extending the grace that the Lord has so generously given me. I’m not going to live under the weight of responsibility. I am going to dance on top of it. I am going to make my life fun — laughing, singing and dancing in gratitude and excitement for all the Lord has done and all that He is doing.
