Today’s Reading:
Matthew 11
Psalm 23
Psalm 27
Psalm 86
“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.”
Matthew 11:28-30 TPT
I heard the Spirit of the Living God say,
Changing takes effort. It takes decided purpose. It takes commitment. Will you change for the way forward? Not all change is difficult, but it takes purpose and effort. I want you to shed the load you have been carrying. I want you to walk lighter, freer. Instead of with this heaviness, I want you to live with a decided expectation of good coming from every direction. This is the time of the turnaround — if you will take it, if you will accept it, if you will posture your heart, your eyes, your countenance and even your stance to receive it. This is a time to shake off the weights of the past — the weights you have grown so accustomed to carrying, to holding, to managing. I want you to run free like a young stallion, but you cannot with all of these weights and reins and bonds and baggage.
So why would I fear the future? Only goodness and tender love pursue me all the days of my life. Then afterward, when my life is through, I’ll return to your glorious presence to be forever with you!
Psalms 23:6 TPT
I have made you to run free. So be free. Buck the weights I never put on you right off your back. Remove the heaviness of unmet expectations, and change your heart posture and your countenance to one of joy, delight and undimmed expectation of My goodness coming to meet you wherever you go and wherever you turn. In every direction you look or even think — I want you to expect My goodness to meet you. This is a matter of expectations. This is a matter of living in the freedom I bought for you. I’ve never loaded you down with all those weights and bonds. Release them, buck them, cut ties with them and choose, decide, draw a line in the sand and say, from this moment forward, I am living light. I am living in the expectation of abundance, of fruitfulness, of promises fulfilled and delights untold coming at me from every direction. Remind yourself that I Am your Good Father, your Creator, your Maker and the one who set the stars, moon and planets in motion.
Teach me more about you, how you work and how you move, so that I can walk onward in your truth until everything within me brings honor to your name. With all my heart and passion I will thank you, my God! I will give glory to your name, always and forever! You love me so much, and you have placed your greatness upon me. You rescued me from the deepest place of darkness, and you have delivered me from a certain death.
Psalms 86:11-13 TPT
I Am the One who created the system, the Kingdom system of sustainable growth and prosperity that you can see everywhere you look in nature. Nothing I made is designed to lack or diminish. If it did, it would no longer exist. Everything I do, everything I have made is designed with the ability to sustain and to flourish. So if I gave it to you, and you are stewarding it, expect it to sustain. Let me teach you how to tap into its ability to sustain, to regenerate, to grow. As I teach you these things, you will learn to laugh and look to the future from a perspective you’ve never had. This is what I want for you. This is what I’ve destined for you. So shake off the weights and submit, decide, choose to run in the lightness and the wildness of the freedom I bought for you.
How to Respond
- Assess the weights, baggage, ties, bonds and expectations you have been carrying. Allow the Lord to help you shake them off and break free of them.
- Pray, Holy Spirit come. You have unfettered access to every corner of my heart, mind and life. Help me to dig out, drop and shake off every expectation, every weight, every responsibility or belief that is weighing me down and is not from You. Help me to change. Help me to run free. Help me to live with a continual expectation that Your goodness will meet me coming, going and everywhere I turn.
- Declare, Yet I believe with all my heart that I will see again your goodness, Yahweh, in the land of life eternal! Here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Don’t give up; don’t be impatient; be entwined as one with the Lord. Be brave and courageous, and never lose hope. Yes, keep on waiting—for he will never disappoint you!
— Psalms 27:13-14 TPT - Decree, The Lord my God is absolutely good. He never lies, never fails, never forgets. He never leaves, forsakes or loses. He is my provider, my source, my help and my sustainer. I will follow Him into the changes He is asking me to make, so I can live in the freedom that He bought for me. I will see and experience His goodness everywhere I look, think, go and turn. As I change my expectations, He will change my life.
