Today’s Reading:
Romans 8

The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit.
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭14‬ ‭TPT‬‬

I heard the Spirit of the Living God say,
Religion loses every time. Religion plays it safe when My Spirit says take a risk. Religion says be rigid when I say give grace. Religion says play the hard line when My Spirit breathes mercy. Know the difference.

And you did not receive the “spirit of religious duty,” leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the “Spirit of full acceptance,” enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!” For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭TPT‬‬

It’s time to cast religion aside to be one moved by the impulses of My Spirit. It’s time to cast the rules aside — the need for extreme order aside — and flow in My Spirit. Life is messy. Religion doesn’t fix that. Religion just makes it harder to deal with the mess you’ve got. Embracing the uncertainty, embracing the imperfection and flowing with My Spirit is one of the greatest joys and treasures of the life of a believer. The need for control actually tames you. It tames your heart. It shuts down your spirit. You were meant to be free. Break out of those religious shackles. Shake loose from those religious bonds. Say goodbye to that false belief and fear of never being good enough, the fear of not measuring up. Bid adieu to the need to be right, proper, perfect; and allow the healing balm of My Spirit to flood you, to wash over those places where the chains once held you.

The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters!
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭19‬ ‭TPT‬‬

I made you to be a lion. I made you to be untamed. I made you to be wild, joy-filled, light-filled and unpredictable. I made you to move with the impulses of My Spirit, not to be caged and chained by fixed conditions and rules that create false certainty in the heart of man. It’s time to be free. It’s time to be free My love. Break out. Break out. Break out. My grace is here, and it is more than sufficient for you to break out!

How to Respond

  • Pray, Lord, I repent of any and all agreements I have made with the religious spirit and its partner the critical spirit. Lord, come into the places, the wounds in my soul that gave these spirits access. Remove the festering infections there. Heal those wounds, and replace them with the sense of being good enough, with the sense of being fully accepted, with the sense of peace and wellbeing — not needing to be on red alert. Free me from the need to be right and perfect and correct. Breathe Your grace into my life, and restore me to a place of true freedom.
  • Declare, So, what does all this mean? If God has determined to stand with us, tell me, who then could ever stand against us? For God has proved his love by giving us his greatest treasure, the gift of his Son. And since God freely offered him up as the sacrifice for us all, he certainly won’t withhold from us anything else he has to give. Who then would dare to accuse those whom God has chosen in love to be his? God himself is the judge who has issued his final verdict over them—“Not guilty!” Who then is left to condemn us? Certainly not Jesus, the Anointed One! For he gave his life for us, and even more than that, he has conquered death and is now risen, exalted, and enthroned by God at his right hand. So how could he possibly condemn us since he is continually praying for our triumph?“
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭31‬-‭34‬ ‭TPT‬‬
  • Decree, This is the day of freedom. I repent of, renounce and reject the religious spirit and its partner the critical spirit. Neither are longer allowed to operate in my life any longer, because the Lord has come in and closed those points of access. I will live free from those bonds of religion and perfectionism, and I will instead be moved powerfully by the impulses of the Spirit. The enemy better watch out. I’m not tame or held back anymore.
