Today’s Reading:
Proverbs 21
Psalm 31

It’s as easy for God to steer a king’s heart for his purposes as it is for him to direct the course of a stream.
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21‬:‭1‬ ‭TPT‬‬

I heard the Spirit of the Living God say,
I Am moving the hearts of kings and causing them to submit to My will. I Am setting the direction, charting the course that these kings will seem to direct and follow. The direction I Am setting is unfamiliar terrain, but I will cause the flow of My Spirit over this new terrain to be powerful — undiverted and uninterrupted.

For you are my high fortress, where I’m kept safe. You are to me a stronghold of salvation. When you deliver me out of this peril, it will bring glory to your name. As you guide me forth I’ll be kept safe from the hidden snares of the enemy— the secret traps that lie before me— for you have become my rock of strength.
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭31‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭TPT‬‬

What would have been treacherous, difficult and quite dangerous without My Spirit will happen swiftly and decisively. My Spirit will chart the course, and it will be traversed with ease. You may want to hold on to the vessel. You may look around and be tempted to fear. Just because we move cleanly over great difficult places does not mean that you will not recognize the threat of the passage and the danger that surrounds and lurks beneath the surface. To get to the place of freedom, we must first make it through dangerous and treacherous places. But I will get you safely through. I hold you in the palm of My hand. Stay in the boat, and keep your eyes on Me. Don’t fear the scenery. Don’t fear what you see on all sides and even what you know as dangers beneath the surface. I Am the One who carved out this channel that has never before existed. And I have made a way for you to make it safely through what otherwise, without My Spirit guidance, would be a very treacherous and dangerous passage.

Into your hands I now entrust my spirit. O Lord, the God of faithfulness, you have rescued and redeemed me. I despise these deceptive illusions, all this pretense and nonsense, for I worship only you. In mercy you have seen my troubles, and you have cared for me; even during this crisis in my soul I will be radiant with joy, filled with praise for your love and mercy. You have kept me from being conquered by my enemy; you broke open the way to bring me to freedom, into a beautiful, broad place.
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭31‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Hold on to hope. Hold on to truth. Wear My peace as a garment, and sing your ongoing words of ceaseless praise. Keep your eyes on Me. Focus on Me — not the surroundings and not the knowledge or speculation about what lurks beneath the surface. I Am bringing you through this rough passage, this rough channel into a place of peace and freedom. And I will give you rest.

How to Respond

  • Seek the Lord for any preparation you may need to make in advance of this rough passage.
  • Pray, Holy Spirit thank You that You have provided a way for me to safely make it through what would otherwise be a very dangerous and treacherous place and time for me to move through alone. Help me to keep my eyes and heart on You. Thank You for bringing us through this passage into a broad place of freedom and peace.
  • Declare, Lord, how wonderful you are! You have stored up so many good things for us, like a treasure chest heaped up and spilling over with blessings— all for those who honor and worship you! Everybody knows what you can do for those who turn and hide themselves in you.
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭31‬:‭19‬ ‭TPT‬‬
  • Decree, I will listen to the voice of the Lord and be quick to fully obey. I will not get distracted or dismayed by the difficulty and dangers of what I see surrounding me. I will not take My eyes off of Him. I will wear peace. I will sing songs of continual praise. And the Lord will bring me safely through into a spacious place of peace and freedom. He will give me rest.
