Today’s Reading:
Psalm 34
Psalm 35
Psalm 37
Isaiah 52
God will be your bodyguard to protect you when trouble is near. Not one bone will be broken. Evil will cause the death of the wicked, for they hate and persecute the devoted lovers of God. Make no mistake about it: God will hold them guilty and punish them; they will pay the penalty! But the Lord has paid for the freedom of his servants, and he will freely pardon those who love him. He will declare them free and innocent when they turn to hide themselves in him.
Psalms 34:20-22 TPT
I heard the Spirit of the Living God of truth and justice say,
A sudden heavy overwhelming downpour will catch many off guard. It will interrupt the normal flow of activities. It will interrupt day-to-day life, and then suddenly it will clear up. Suddenly — as quickly as it came, it will be gone, and the sun will shine and the waters will dry. But the earth will be changed.
Surprise them with your ambush, Lord, and catch them in the very trap they set for me. Let them be the ones to fail and fall into destruction! Then my fears will dissolve into limitless joy; my whole being will overflow with gladness because of your mighty deliverance. Everything inside of me will shout it out: “There’s no one like you, Lord!” For look at how you protect the weak and helpless from the strong and heartless who oppress them.
Psalms 35:8-10 TPT
On the surface, it may look like everything is the same, as though this was just another storm. But this storm ripped the moorings out from those whose ropes were tied to power. Some of these figures are well known and visible. Others you have never seen nor heard of before. But this storm is ripping the moorings and shredding the connections, the ropes that have tied them to power. And these figures will be in their posts no longer. These figures will be as ones adrift and afloat, lost at sea with nothing to uphold them. All that tied them to power will be cut off, ripped away. And while the pillars and the foundations and even the offices remain untouched, the figures that were so firmly tied to these places of power will be cut off and swept away.
Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way, you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly! He will appear as your righteousness, as sure as the dawning of a new day. He will manifest as your justice, as sure and strong as the noonday sun. Quiet your heart in his presence and wait patiently for Yahweh. And don’t think for a moment that the wicked, in their prosperity, are better off than you. Stay away from anger and revenge. Keep envy far from you, for it only leads you into lies. For one day the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the Lord will inherit the land. Just a little while longer and the ungodly will vanish; you will look for them in vain. But the humble of heart will inherit every promise and enjoy abundant peace.
Psalms 37:5-11 TPT
The sunlight that enters and shines on this place will bring a heavy, holy reverence to these halls that had been so marred by darkness, wickedness and control. Sunlight and holiness will fall heavy in this place, and unworthy ones will not have the strength to enter. The storm will be fast and furious. It will bring rain that falls so heavy it conceals the work and the damage done until it lifts.
Listen! The watchmen are shouting in triumph! Lifting their voices together, they are singing for joy! For right before their eyes, they can see Yahweh returning to Zion! Burst into joyous songs, you rubble of Jerusalem! For Yahweh has graciously comforted his people; he has become the Kinsman-Redeemer of Jerusalem! Yahweh has unveiled his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations. To the ends of the earth, everyone everywhere will see the salvation of our God!
Isaiah 52:8-10 TPT
Fear not, your moorings are secure. Your anchor is in Me. Yours is a place of peace and rest, of prayer and worship as you wait out the storm that breaks the bonds that hold wickedness to power. Through this storm, I’m setting My people free. Be in faith. Be of good cheer. The end of the days of the wicked howling and ruling over my people is very near.
How to Respond
- Rejoice and stir up expectation of the Lord’s just judgement against the wicked.
- Pray, Holy Spirit thank You for Your plan, for Your faithfulness, for Your Presence. Help me to remain hidden in You as this storm arises suddenly and powerfully. I want to be able to look back and say that I was confident, at peace and serene, even as the storm raged. Thank You for cutting the wicked off from their ties to power and for sweeping them from the scene. Restore purity, holiness and reverence to the places of power in our nation, state and community.
- Declare Psalm 91 over yourself and your family.
- Decree, The Lord raises leaders up and He takes others down. His sovereignty rules the entire universe. The wicked will be judged and cut off from their places of power in this intense and sudden storm. Those with the Lord have nothing to fear. Our anchor is in the Lord God Almighty, and He will securely hold us.
