Today’s Reading:
1 Kings 17
2 Corinthians 6
Philippians 4

Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there; behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” So he arose and went to Zarephath, and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks; and he called to her and said, “Please get me a little water in a jar, that I may drink.” As she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand.” But she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I have no bread, only a handful of flour in the bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering a few sticks that I may go in and prepare for me and my son, that we may eat it and die.”
‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭17‬:‭8‬-‭12‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

I heard the Spirit of the Living God say,
I desire for you to live in abundance — abundance of health and all good things. Abundance requires a mindset of generosity. It requires a reflex of generosity. It requires breaking the poverty spirit. A mindset of lack and little leads to hoarding, protecting and hiding, while a heart posture of generosity gives without fear or worry. Those in a lack mindset see generosity as a luxury of the wealthy. They don’t consider My law of sowing and reaping. Abundance is the reaping of a generous sower.

Then Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go, do as you have said, but make me a little bread cake from it first and bring it out to me, and afterward you may make one for yourself and for your son. For thus says the Lord God of Israel, ‘The bowl of flour shall not be exhausted, nor shall the jar of oil be empty, until the day that the Lord sends rain on the face of the earth.’ ” So she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bowl of flour was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil become empty, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke through Elijah.
‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭17‬:‭13‬-‭16‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Generosity is not happenstance. It’s learned. It is developed over time, and it is an outward sign of heart health. Wealth in the Kingdom does not come by happenstance. It comes by faithfulness, by wisdom, by stewardship and by generosity. Those are the keys to wealth and abundance. True abundance must start with a healthy heart. You can be wealthy and live in a lack mindset, filled with fear. You can have little, and give freely and live in total freedom from fear. Ask Me, and I’ll show you how to be rid of the lack mindset. It starts with love. Love God, and love people. Love casts out fear. My perfect love casts out all fear. And if you are not in fear, you are freed up to be generous.

Dear, dear Corinthians, I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way. I’m speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭11‬-‭13‬ ‭MSG‬‬

See being generous through Kingdom eyes — it plants seeds. It is sowing. Sowing in love and in good soil, sowing and giving into what moves My heart will always net a good return. It’s time to move from a mindset of lack into the wide-open, spacious mindset of Kingdom abundance, because I Am the God of always more than enough. I’ll never leave you in lack or lead you into lack. A generous heart is fitting of a generous king. Don’t forget I’ve made you a king. Kings are not stingy. They don’t fear not having enough.

How to Respond

  • Pray, Lord, help me to change my heart and mind. Help me to be so filled with love for You and for people that living and giving from the overflow of that love is my reflex. I don’t want to be one who lives in lack or in the fear of not having enough.
  • Declare, And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
    ‭‭— Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
  • Decree, My God is the Creator of Heaven and Earth, the Lord of the Universe. He always has more than enough, and He can always make more and multiply. I have no need to fear lack. I have no need to hold back a blessing or hoard what He’s given me. I will be a blessing. I will sow generously, and the Lord will bring me a good return. I will live by the Kingdom’s economy — not the world’s. And the Lord will ensure I always have more than enough.
