Psalm 37
Psalm 92

Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!” And God granted him what he requested.
‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

I heard the Spirit of the Living God say,
Discomfort is a sign of growth. Remember when you were young — as you were growing and your shoes got too small? They were uncomfortable. When your clothes felt too snug, too short? Those were signs of growth. Discomfort is a sign of growth, and it is an indicator that it’s time for something new. It may be time to be transplanted to a larger place.

Keep trusting in the Lord and do what is right in his eyes. Fix your heart on the promises of God, and you will dwell in the land, feasting on his faithfulness. Find your delight and true pleasure in Yahweh, and he will give you what you desire the most. Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way, you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly!
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Growth is a sign of health. It is natural and expected. I have put longings inside of you to stretch out, to reach out farther than the place you have been planted in this time. The way to healthy growth is to develop a thriving root system where I plant you. But the place of the next phase of growth first requires an uprooting. It requires getting messy. It requires finding new ground that is suitable and appropriate for you to be established for the next phase. Uprooting and replanting brings necessary discomfort and even some temporary pain. But ultimately it brings greater health and provides the nutrients and the space for longevity.

I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life. I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide. So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before. Don’t make me tug you and pull you along. Just come with me!”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭32‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭TPT‬‬

I have called you to a higher place, and though your heart is dragging its feet, you cannot remain. You must join Me in this higher place, in this next phase, in this next chapter of which you have been dreaming, seeking and desiring. Don’t make it harder on yourself than it needs to be. Get your life in order, get your house in order, get your things in order; and be looking expectantly as I establish a path that leads to higher ground, that leads to that more spacious place where you can establish a deeper and wider root system and where you can thrive.

Yes! Look how you’ve made all your devoted lovers to flourish like palm trees, each one growing in victory, standing with strength! You’ve transplanted them into your heavenly courtyard, where they are thriving before you, for in your presence they will still overflow and be anointed. Even in their old age they will stay fresh, bearing luscious fruit and abiding faithfully. Listen to them! With pleasure they still proclaim: “You’re so good! You’re my beautiful strength! You’ve never made a mistake with me.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭92‬:‭12‬-‭15‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The discomfort is a sign. You are outgrowing the place I have planted you, and this is the season to be reestablished for health, for depth and for longevity.

How to Respond

  • Trust the Lord to order your steps and the pieces of your life.
  • Pray, Lord help me to let go of my notions of what the next phase of growth in my life should look like. Help me to get my house in order and to obey Your voice — as You lead me to a suitable place to grow, to go deeper and to be established for longevity.
  • Declare, Listen to them! With pleasure they still proclaim: “You’re so good! You’re my beautiful strength! You’ve never made a mistake with me.” — Psalms‬ ‭92‬:‭15‬ ‭TPT‬‬
  • Decree, I will not ignore or dismiss or fight the discomfort the Lord has put in my spirit. It is a sign that it is a time for a replanting. I will allow Him to use this discomfort to cause me to be open to new ideas, new opportunities, new people and new places. I will not put parameters on what the next phase of growth looks like. I will quickly and fully obey the voice of the Lord as He leads me to higher ground.
