Today’s Reading:
Psalm 24
Philippians 4
1 John 1
1 John 2
I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name’s sake. I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
1 John 2:12-14 NASB1995
I heard the Spirit of the Living God say,
What the enemy relishes in and calls his magnificent displays of darkness will give way to glorious displays of light. Trust that the light, My light will burst through the gloom. You can’t perceive how brightly the light I have put inside of you shines. I have made My lovers to each be cities on a hill, lights in the darkness, undeniable proofs that light and love and God exist.
You ask, “Who is this King of Glory?” Yahweh, armed and ready for battle, Yahweh, invincible in every way! So wake up, you living gateways, and rejoice! Fling wide, you eternal doors! Here he comes; the King of Glory is ready to come in. You ask, “Who is this King of Glory?” He is Yahweh, armed and ready for battle, the Mighty One, the invincible commander of heaven’s hosts! Yes, he is the King of Glory! Pause in his presence
Psalms 24:8-10 TPT
You have seen heartbreaking, traumatizing, unthinkable displays of darkness, and they weigh down your soul. If you attach yourself too closely to them, they will dim your light. Acknowledge the evil. Recognize the evil. But then say, “What is My Father in Heaven doing to avenge this bloodshed? To make right these horrors?” As you set your eyes on Me instead of these real and horrific acts of darkness, your light will grow brighter and brighter amidst the gloom. The light inside of you will dispel the darkness. And as My people rise and shine in defiance of darkness and in pure, unmanufactured love for Me, the Light will overtake the darkness. And the darkness will not comprehend how it is losing strength, power, relevance and access to this world.
This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
1 John 1:5-7 NASB1995
This is how you unhook evil from your midst. And this is how you hook yourselves to one another — in prayer, in worship, in communion and fellowship. Unite as one in My Name for My Glory. Seek My face as one, and your light will shine; and it will overcome and overwhelm the darkness. Then the darkness will be in your midst no longer. It will find no place to grab hold. It will be forced out of your midst. Arise. Shine. Worship. Pray. Unite in My Name for My Glory, and I will come and meet you. And together, entwined as one, united as one, we will dispel the great darkness.
How to Respond
- Pray, Lord come what may, help me to focus my attention and love and admiration on You above all. Help me to dwell on all that is lovely, holy, acceptable, pure, worthy and of good repute. I do not want to glorify darkness by dwelling on it. I desire to join as one with my brothers and sisters in Christ to exalt Your Name and dispel the darkness by our love, unity and worship of You.
- Declare, I will rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! I will let my gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. I will be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, I will let my requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus.
adapted from Philippians 4:4-7 NASB1995 - Decree, I will not give darkness undo magnification or attention. I will focus my gaze and my heart on the King of Glory. I will join together with the body of believers in worship, in prayer, in seeking the face of the Lord, and together with Him our light will expel darkness from our midst.
