Today’s Reading:
Psalm 37
1 Peter 5
Keep trusting in the Lord and do what is right in his eyes. Fix your heart on the promises of God, and you will dwell in the land, feasting on his faithfulness. Find your delight and true pleasure in Yahweh, and he will give you what you desire the most. Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way, you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly! He will appear as your righteousness, as sure as the dawning of a new day. He will manifest as your justice, as sure and strong as the noonday sun.
Psalms 37:3-6 TPT
I heard the Spirit of the Living God say,
Trust and obey Me. You will see that I lead you to your heart’s desire. You will see that I guide you along a sunlit path. Trust is a key to freedom. Suspicion, doubt and unbelief keep you in a prison. They urge on your desire for control, your desire to find fault. They build up the walls of defense around you. If you trust Me and obey Me, you don’t have to be suspicious or in doubt. You will rest in the confidence that I will speak, that I will give you the discernment, that I will tip you off when wolves and foxes are nearing the garden.
The Lord loves it when he sees us walking in his justice. He will never desert his devoted lovers; they will be kept forever in his faithful care, but the descendants of the wicked will be banished. The faithful lovers of God will inherit the earth and enjoy every promise of God’s care, dwelling in peace forever.
Psalms 37:28-29 TPT
You can live in the delight of Me, fully abandoned as a child, in full trust like a child. And such freedom will enter your life. Instead of looking over your shoulder or scrutinizing those who enter your path, you can live with openness, full joy and pure, free delight — because you know Me and you hear My voice. Obedience to My voice is what protects you from harm and removes you from the reach of untoward ones with dark motives or bad character. You don’t have to figure that all out on your own — that is a trap. That is a prison.
But you can tell who are the blameless and spiritually mature. What a different story with them! The godly ones will have a peaceful, prosperous future with a happy ending. Every evil sinner will be destroyed, obliterated. They’ll be utter failures with no future! But the Lord will be the Savior of all who love him. Even in their time of trouble, God will live in them as strength. Because of their faith in him, their daily portion will be a Father’s help and deliverance from evil. This is true for all who turn to hide themselves in him!
Psalms 37:37-40 TPT
Live in the delight of Me, in holy confidence and absolute trust in Me. Live in unbroken communion with Me. Then you never have to fear anyone who enters or crosses your path, because you know I Am with you, guiding you, protecting you, warning you and instructing you in the way you should go. So then whom or what should you fear? Trust in Me is foundational to peace. So trust and obey, and you will be at peace.
How to Respond
- Worship the Lord with thanksgiving.
- Pray, Lord thank You that You are my Guide, my Comforter, my Helper and the One who leads me to all truth. Thank You that You are all knowing, so I don’t have to be. Help me to fully trust in You, so I can let go of my perceived need for vigilance, mistrust or suspicion about those who cross or enter my path. I want to live like Jesus, carefree before You, open and welcoming to all who You send knowing that You will speak to me if guarding measures need to be taken. Help me to be entwined as one with You and quickly and fully obedient to Your voice.
- Declare, Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.
1 Peter 5:7 MSG - Decree, I trust in the Lord. I lay down my need to self-protect through suspicion, judgement and skepticism. I will be guided by my trust in the Lord, and my obedience to His voice, His prompting, His warnings will be all I need to stay out of harm’s way. I will no longer stay in a prison of unbelief, doubt and remoteness driven by fear. I will live carefree before the Lord, knowing that He will fully protect me.
