Today’s Reading:
2 Samuel 22
I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, And I am saved from my enemies. For the waves of death encompassed me; The torrents of destruction overwhelmed me; The cords of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called upon the Lord, Yes, I cried to my God; And from His temple He heard my voice, And my cry for help came into His ears.
2 Samuel 22:4-7 NASB1995
I heard the Spirit of the Living God of All Creation say,
I’m making waves. I’m creating turbulent, very rough seas. Damage is being wrought to the House of Saul. Damage is being done to the Philistines. Great grace is in the aftermath. The Philistines are being slaughtered even as they attack the House of Saul. I have used evil to destroy the works of rebellion — of the house of defiant independence and no shepherding. I have used the Philistines, the ones who love to mock and insult and slaughter My people, these very ones I have set against the House of Saul in this land, the ones who have rebelled against My heart to follow their own way, even witchcraft.
The Lord thundered from heaven, And the Most High uttered His voice. And He sent out arrows, and scattered them, Lightning, and routed them. Then the channels of the sea appeared, The foundations of the world were laid bare By the rebuke of the Lord, At the blast of the breath of His nostrils.
2 Samuel 22:14-16 NASB1995
I have laid waste to the House of Saul, and I have used the Philistines as My weapon. The House of Saul will sink to the bottom of the sea. As the storms rage, even these Philistines who have been as vicious as Vikings on the open seas are facing a storm they cannot conquer. They’re facing a storm they cannot endure. I will stir up even more and even greater storm waves than these. And you will watch their demise in slow motion. You will see them drown in this storm that I have kicked up, though their ship and all its treasures will remain.
He sent from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those who hated me, for they were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the Lord was my support. He also brought me forth into a broad place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me.
2 Samuel 22:17-20 NASB1995
I asked the Lord who the House of Saul was. He said, it’s the typical political class who have been ruling by means of mediums and witchcraft and have operated in open rebellion against the Lord Most High. They had the anointing and the skill to lead, but they fell and misused it. In response, I made them mad, and they sunk further into open rebellion. Then I said, who are the Philistines Lord? He responded, these are the power hungry, the never satiated — the ones who are always raiding, always destroying. Tech titans are among some of them, others are more obscure ones who have held levers of power. The Philistines have raided, harassed and made life fearful, troublesome and difficult for My people. I’m dealing with them today as well. This storm will deal with a lot of your enemies. Many — most of your enemies will not make it through this storm.
How to Respond
- Worship and delight yourself in the Lord.
- Pray, Lord thank You that You are the God of justice. You are the Great I Am. Nothing and no one escapes Your notice. You have seen the plight of Your people. You have seen how the ruling class has been in open rebellion against You and has not served or shepherded in the interest of Your people. You have seen how we have been robbed, abused and terrorized by the power and control class of people outside of the politicians. Bring them all to justice in this storm Lord. Let today be our day of vindication from our enemies and freedom from their ruthless rule and attacks.
- Declare, The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock; And exalted be God, the rock of my salvation, The God who executes vengeance for me, And brings down peoples under me, Who also brings me out from my enemies; You even lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from the violent man. Therefore I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the nations, And I will sing praises to Your name. He is a tower of deliverance to His king, And shows lovingkindness to His anointed, To David and his descendants forever.
2 Samuel 22:47-51 NASB1995 - Decree, The Lord is moving powerfully to free us from being controlled, robbed and terrorized by our enemies. The Lord is laying waste to the House of Saul — the political class who have not stewarded the interests of the Lord, the nation or its people. He is using the Philistines — the power hungry, controlling and maniacal elite to destroy them. And once these Philistines are done with their destroying, the Lord will use the rough waves and these stormy seas to destroy the Philistines as well. Their ships and their treasures will remain.
