Today’s Reading:
Romans 1
2 Corinthians 7
I refuse to be ashamed of the wonderful message of God’s liberating power unleashed in us through Christ! For I am thrilled to preach that everyone who believes is saved—the Jew first, and then people everywhere! This gospel unveils a continual revelation of God’s righteousness—a perfect righteousness given to us when we believe. And it moves us from receiving life through faith, to the power of living by faith. This is what the Scripture means when it says: “We are right with God through life-giving faith!”
Romans 1:16-17 TPT
I heard the Spirit of the Living God who gave His Only Begotten Son to save the world say,
The Church has sullied the reputation and the cause of repentance. Repentance is a gift from a Holy God. Repentance is what this generation craves. Repentance is the gift of a door that must be walked through in order to access Jesus who is true freedom. For a generation that has been bound by sin and deception, mesmerized by lies, distracted by entertainment, numbed by drugs and alcohol — what is missing, the key for these ones who have been made to have a zombie-like existence, the way for them to have life, to live and prosper — the door they must walk through is repentance. They are hungering and thirsting for repentance. You must give it to them. Stop withholding My gift because it makes you uncomfortable. Repentance is a gift. It’s a door and a key to freedom, to the release from captivity. It breaks every chain and puts you in the arms of King Jesus, your Savior, the only one who can absolve you of your sin.
For God in heaven unveils his holy anger breaking forth against every form of sin, both toward ungodliness that lives in hearts and evil actions. For the wickedness of humanity deliberately smothers the truth and keeps people from acknowledging the truth about God. In reality, the truth of God is known instinctively, for God has embedded this knowledge inside every human heart. Opposition to truth cannot be excused on the basis of ignorance, because from the creation of the world, the invisible qualities of God’s nature have been made visible, such as his eternal power and transcendence. He has made his wonderful attributes easily perceived, for seeing the visible makes us understand the invisible. So then, this leaves everyone without excuse.
Romans 1:18-20 TPT
Sin and repentance have become embarrassing words for My Church, but they are the words that lead to life more abundant. Stop sugar coating the way to freedom and restoration. This is a generation who is tired of being handled with kid gloves. They want the truth. They want it straight. They want what is real, and they want the meat of the Word. This is a generation that has been treated as ones who can’t handle the truth and who will live on the bottle forever. But they are malnourished. They are hungry. They desire the truth, and they are willing to be wild and look wild and boldly speak and proclaim the truth. They are willing to fight and die for the truth. Get out of the way with your preconceived notions of what they can handle and how it will be received. Honor Me. Honor the purity and the sharpness of the message of My true, simple and pure Gospel, and preach it fearlessly — when it’s’ convenient and when it’s not.
Even if my letter made you sorrowful, I don’t regret sending it (even though I felt awful for a moment when I heard how it grieved you). Now I’m overjoyed—not because I made you sad, but because your grief led you to a deep repentance.
2 Corinthians 7:8-9 TPT
This is a generation who greatly desires the truth, who is tired of being lied to and treated as ones who cannot handle the truth, as ones who are too fragile for truth. They already know more truth than many who are looked up to as resources and leaders and teachers. These young ones already have more truth in their understanding and hearts than many of those who stand behind pulpits. Cut the nonsense. Stop equivocating. Stop sugar coating, and reduce everything back down to the pure and simple truth. It’s what the youth need. It’s what the hungry need. It’s what the world needs, and you’re standing in the way.
How to Respond
- Pray, Lord, help me to leave fear and preconceptions behind, and just speak the truth of the Gospel boldly. I don’t want to stand in the way of anyone seeking the freedom of receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior. I repent of the fear of words like repentance and sin, and I will call things what they are going forward.
- Declare, God designed us to feel remorse over sin in order to produce repentance that leads to victory. This leaves us with no regrets. But the sorrow of the world works death.
2 Corinthians 7:10 TPT - Decree, I will speak the truth, because it is what the world needs. I will not sugar coat the Gospel of the Kingdom of Jesus and the way of salvation. I will talk openly and with love about sin and the most holy gift of repentance. I will frankly and truthfully tell people the true way to freedom. And I will fully ignore my notions and inclination to tell people what I think they want to hear.
